Spiritual Growth through Active Service

As most of you know, Lizzy and I have had the privilege of being part of Grace since the launch team days. When the opportunity of helping plant a church arose, I began seeking wisdom from a local pastor and spiritual mentor of mine with experience in this area. His exact words were “Planting a church will challenge you in ways that you have yet to experience.” A week doesn’t go by that I don’t think about how true those words are. From the plant phase, to being on the leadership team, God has challenged us with specific questions that would never have applied to me as just a church “goer.” The gifts He has given me have been used in ways that would have lain dormant in other congregations. It truly is immeasurable the spiritual growth that comes from actively serving God with a specific purpose.

At the end of the month, the membership of Grace Church will excitedly elect elders. On that day I will no longer have an official title with Grace Church. Thank you, God, for teaching me how to actively serve You with purpose, and that opening Your Word with a specific question will result in specific answers.

Grace, I pray that you have had the same experience as me thus far. As we move forward, I challenge all of us to a purposeful, active and serving relationship with our Lord Jesus through our local church. Let us not merely go to Grace Church, let us be Grace Church.
