Wednesdays with Grace
This week, nearly every conversation that I’ve had outside our home has begun with “How was Easter?” Alas, the latest holiday season is past us. The pastel egg decorations are packed back into boxes, family pictures are posted in front of the frostbitten azaleas, golfers everywhere are dreaming of Augusta National, and we can all go back to indulging in whatever it is given up for Lent (a topic for another day).
This Easter weekend was and always is a beautiful time, full of the Holy Spirit, celebrating the only hope that we have (1 Cor. 15:12-22). Praise Jesus, who by His resurrection, bought ours (Romans 6:5). While the key point was certainly not missed this weekend, when is the next time, we will celebrate with as much vigor, the most important day in all of creation? Surely, we all have lunch buffet reservations same time next week, right? With Christmas parties eight months away, take it from Martin Luther, who explains in his commentary on Galatians,
“Most necessary it is, therefore, that we should know this (the gospel) well, teach it unto others, and beat it into their heads continually.”
Jesus did not defeat death for just one day, but forever. Therefore, let us truly celebrate each and every day, and continuously share the most important news that exists.
Praise Jesus for a continued Easter, Grace.
