Wednesdays with Grace
Finally! We are glad to be married. Thank you for providing a wonderful celebration. You made our day special.
You grow our love for God and one another when we cherish the care Jesus Christ shows us. Each week, you help us communicate by confessing and forgiving sins with us. You pray for us. You read Scripture and discuss its meanings with us. You rejoice with us, fill us with food, and encourage our good deeds. God the Father is at work blessing us through you, so we are grateful for your worship honoring the faithful marriage of Christ Jesus with His Bride the Church.
Many special thanks will arrive individually but let us acclaim your help to us with a quick example of your hospitality. When visiting with us in late January, the Howards joined our very excited home fellowship group. We had plenty of important matters to discuss, but our lovely group has been praying with us for discernment about our relationship for some time, so they asked about our wedding plans. We were still uncertain about our arrangements at that time, so Rebekah and Betsy expressed their hope to have our ceremony at Grace Church because people here want to help. Bernard described the fourth chapter of Ruth and persuaded us that God gives marriage to bless a whole community. After that, we simply set a date and you helped us do all things well. Thank you to everyone who keeps in step with the Holy Spirit so God may lead our one body with its many members.
How you treat us – with all the great virtues of kindness and generosity – shows we live by faith together. We are astounded by how great people you are and how the work of God in your lives transforms so much. We really have incredible gifts in our fellowship. As Chris proclaimed on Sunday, we treasure the grace that is ours in Jesus Christ. We are grateful for you all.
Love,
Lauren and David Shaw
